Peer Review Please

The Ecat looks like a revolutionary possibility, Mr. Rossi has given a number of set-piece public demonstrations and I would like to believe it works as stated.

However in the absence of standard peer review or peer reproducible results I’m afraid I’d have a hard time buying one, or investing in one of Rossi’s companies, even if the next door neighbor did.

I realize that Mr. Rossi will have a difficult task asking for peer review after the P & F fiasco years ago, but it is the only way to be really be taken seriously by the mainstream.

You already have some patent protection Mr. Rossi – let someone else have one of your devices, or the plans to same, and see if they can reproduce your results with their own instrumentation.

Andrea Rossi Gives Firm Date for First Public E-Cat Test and Results

We’re just a few short days away from October 2011 — a month that E-Cat followers have been awaiting with eager anticipation.

According to Andrea Rossi, things are progressing smoothly in regards to the scheduled public testing of his E-Cats and the delivery of the first 1 MW plant to the as-yet-unknown customer. Rossi has started to provide some idea of what to expect in October regarding his power plant:

“By half October we will explain exactly what follows:
1- where the 1 MW plant will be tested
2- all the (not confidential) characteristics of the 1MW plant (the complementary part is more reactors, of a new type that in the meantime we have developed)
3- possibly, who is the Customer, if the Customer will allow us to communicate his name.”

He has also provided information about the testing of a single E-Cat unit that will start shortly in Uppsala, Sweden. He says that selected scientists from various countries have been invited to attend this testing, along with selected scientific journalists (but doesn’t mention who has accepted invitations).

Rossi stated, “On the 7th you should find in the net the report and video of the test of October 6th regarding one cluster of the modules of the 1 MW plant.”

It is this sort of circumstantial evidence – a short example of many – that makes it difficult to reconcile the view that Andrea Rossi is somehow pulling the wool over all these people’s eyes.

Andrea Rossi and representatives of Defkalion GT and Ampenergo have hinted about the interest they were receiving from major companies around the world. While there is no certainty that the person above is the same FC who worked for Texas instruments (and now AustriaMicroSystems?) as Senior Design Engineer it makes you wonder at what deals are being made behind the scenes.

In talking about using the eCat in the feedwater phase – an energy-hungry preheating stage in the heat-to-electricity process, Andrea Rossi says (http://www.journal-of-nuclear-physics.com/?p=497&cpage=14#comment-51156) that

“…this is exactly the application which very likely will be made in the USA by a very important Customer…”

If this is so, it is hard to believe that he would be taken seriously without a real demo to the standard required for due diligence.
